Disney World---From a Gal Who's Been There, Done That

Hi, Page Turner again! In case you haven't noticed, I love going to Disney World. Most people liked going to Disney World if they've been, but most people don't know the awesome, hidden wonders of the parks that take a bit of digging to find. Here's Page Turner's Guide to a Few Commonly Missed Attractions. Hope you have fun reading it!

  •   Finding Nemo--the Musical: If you've ever seen the movie, are a fan of Broadway music, love beautiful costumes, or just want to get out of the heat, the Finding Nemo--the Musical attraction in Disney's Animal Kingdom is amazing. With a series of amazing Broadway-like songs, this play combines beautiful costumes and an amazing voice cast for an exciting, powerful play. It's totally worth seeing, and I even have the songs on my iPod!
  • Mulch, Sweat, and Tears: This outdoor traveling band that plays in the Hollywood Studios can sing some cool beats. If you spot them (near the Star Wars attractions and the Muppets) make sure to listen to this hip band with amazing singers and awesome get ups.
  • Innovations: Did you ever think to yourself, "I really want to go somewhere with awesome, interactive games that allow me to combine tech with art and play games?" Well, Innovations is a present for you! Innovations is the name of the awesome buildings in Epcot, toward the beginning of the park. With many interactive, fun games and simulators, Innovations boast a simulator that mimics a tornado or hurricane, a superhero adventure, and--my favorite--Sum of All Thrills. Sum of All Thrills is a robotic simulator that allows you to take a few minutes to design your own roller coaster with a touch screen desk, then actually try it out. This is a must-see at Disney.   • TTA and Carousel of Progress: Located on a stone's throw away from each other, these two downplayed rides are two of my favorite. The TTA is near Space Mountain. It's a series of carts on a track that runs above Tomorrowland, allowing you to look out over the courtyard, go inside the buildings, and actually see some of the rides. A long time favorite of mine, I have great memories from the TTA. Just a little ways away, is a round building that nobody pays much attention to. Inside is an awesome theater--that moves. The seats move in a circle around the theater, that uses amazing animatronics to depic a family. The dad narrates it, sitting in his kitchen with his dog, as the years progress. He talks about how the Wright Brothers are flying their planes, to the new year 2000. It's a great ride that everyone would love, with a great song. Fun Fact: it was exhibited at the 1964 New York World's Fair.

No Strings Attatched

"I've got no strings to hold me down, to make me fret, to make me frown!" sang little Pinocchio as he danced glibly around the stage, string-less and worry-less, as the other puppets look sadly on, connected by strings like true marionettes. Maybe you recognize this scene from the 1945 Disney Pinocchio movie. For some reason, that made me think about our strings. I think we pride ourselves to be like Pinocchio: chipper, happy, and totally independent (although not quite as wooden.) Well, in reality, we are totally dependent on God. Our talents, our future, our past, our present, and our circumstances are all in the hand's of God. Sure, our decisions change things, but God's in control; nothing we do happens without Him planning it. Good grief, we don't even control our body! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Hi, I'm Paige Turner, and I'm back for the Christmas season. I'm looking forward to writing more on my blog and also celebrating one of my favorite times of the year! Christmas can be an exciting, cozy, comforting time, but it can also be filled with stress, doubt, and sadness as we think of those we miss. Wherever you are this Christmas season, I pray that you'll find peace in our Savior--something that we all need to be reminded of, including me. :) Christmas can also be an exciting time, full of joy--even during stress and sadness, a deeper kind of joy--about Jesus, our Healer and King.I'm looking forward to celebrating love, family (while eating some delicious food), but most importantly, Jesus, Immanuel, which means, "God with us."
