The Okapi and the Sloth and soon...a Tucan

Hi, Page Turner here! A few days ago, I sort of dared myself to write a post that included ice cream, calendars, a mailman, unicorns, poetry, and, oh yeah, an elephant. (I just threw the last one on as I was ending that post. ) Okay, here I go!
My favorite animals are like ice cream flavors, calendar pages, weather patterns, and the times...they are a changin'. Yup, like the aforesaid, my favorite animals are always changing. Of course, I will always love my Fox, my dog, and Fluff, Snowball, Peanut, and Groucho, my cats, the best. But the other animals...those be a changin'. Like right now, I love the okapi. This creature looks
a little like a giraffe, with knob-like structures on its forehead. It can actually lick these structures with its tongue! Yes, the tongue of the okapi is an amazing muscle designed by God, with far-reaching abilities! Also, the okapi was once thought to be a unicorn. Not only that, but this amazing creature wasn't discovered by the scientific community until a little over a hundred
years ago! That's a long time for such a noticeable and important and large animal. The okapi is actually considered a living fossil, which is great evidence for creation! For more information, go to Answers in Genesis. :) Okay, so I mentioned that favorite animals are like ice cream flavors, and we all know that we have MULTIPLE ice cream flavors at all times, so my other favorite animal right now is the sloth! This little guy is so cute and
funny--the picture doesn't do him justice! Amazing and unique creatures, God created the sloth in such an amazing way. They are the slowest mammal, lack the muscles to shiver, sleep 18 HOURS a day, and can swim 3 times faster in water. Also, they still so long that they grow fungus and algae on their fur that helps them blend in. That's just so cool! God designed the slow-moving sloth with everything it need to live. That's just so cool! He is an amazing Creator!

Well, that's it! Next time I'll be talking about Prattling with Paige, inspired by Adventures in Odyssey's own mailman and his blog. Also, I'll include poetry. That's right, just like an elephant, the only mammal who can't jump, I remembered! (I'm like the elephant because I remembered, not because I can't jump.) Hah! I did it! I got it all in! See you later! As the sloth to the right says, "Hang Loose!"

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Hi, Page Turner here! I'm back for--guess what!--another book review. That's right, folks. Book reviews are now officially part of the blog and will be labeled under movie reviews. What's this one on? Just one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. Okay, so when I said 'graphic novel' I guess I should be more specific. According to the dictionary a graphic novel is "a novel in a comic strip format." This book combines pages with words with pages covered in beautiful drawings that tell a story almost as clearly as the aforesaid written pages do. If you haven't guessed it all ready, this is the story of "The Invention of Hugo Cabret." If this doesn't sound like your kind of book, does mystery, danger, an orphan kid living in a clock tower, an old man with a secret, the history and magic of movies, or a secret hidden in a metal automaton strike your fancy? Here's my review!                   ...

The Great Gatsby Book Review

Hi, Page Turner here. Today is the third book in the 30 series on “15 Books Every Person Should Read.” Yesterday was about The Giver by Louis Lowry. Today I’m going to be writing about The Great Gatsby. A beloved, gritty classic about the 1920s, I read this book a few years ago and have been captured by its message ever since. I hope you enjoy today’s book review!                                         The Great Gatsby—a Book Review       The 1920s, dubbed the Roaring Twenties, has captured the imaginations of generations. Twinkling lights, flapper dresses, jazz, and Downton Abbey-esque dinner parties have all been general characterizations of this time period. Add in some speak-easy bars, some romance and mystery, and a trip to the cinema in the family automobile to complete the picture....

Who is the Best Avenger?

Hey, hey, hey! It's me again. Monday isn't the best of days, so I'd like to let off some steam by revisiting one of my favorite things to do: debate about movies. Oh, yeah. Today's topic? Who is the best Avenger? (Yeah, uh oh. This could conversation could get heated :) The following post is my personal opinion and I'd love to hear yours in the comments!        Okay, so we've got, what, like, 10 Avengers now? Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Spiderman, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch...I'm leaving out a few, but you get the gist. I'm going to just focus on the original: Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. Now, pretty much all of these guys are pretty cool. Natasha's like a secret agent/karate fighter, the Hulk can turn green and smash buildings, Iron Man's like a techno Superman, Thor can, well, control lightning, Hawkeye's Avenger's version of Katnis, and Captain America'...
