Books, Books, Books...

Hi, Page Turner here! Okay, so if the start of this high school year as been anything, it has  not  been boring due to lack of books to read. Here's a list of my favorite books, (in no particular order) that I've read since August!     1. "Bud, Not Buddy." This is book filled with humor and pathos and narrated by a ten-year old street-savvy kid in the Great Depression. After loosing his mom when he was six, he is moved to an orphanage. After a series of events, he finds himself alone on the road. But Bud has a secret--he thinks he knows who is father is, and he sets out to find him. This heart-warming story shows the heart of young boy, the mind of a hardened man, and the importance of family. 8/10! 2. "City of Ember Trilogy" Okay, so actually it's a quartet, but I've never liked the "Prophet of Yunwood" anyway. This series follows the events after a devastating world war that caused fire, starvation, and disease; a war that nearly wiped

Tomorrowland

Once upon a time, there was two wolves that always fought. One was darkness and despair. The other was light and hope. Which one will win? The one you feed.  (Spoiler alerts ahead.)     Tomorrowland is the story about a world--a world that is dying. Casey Newton can see it all around her, wherever she goes. Since she was a toddler, all that Casey has wanted to do was see the stars, because there, anything seemed possible. But wherever she ends up, 'possible' doesn't seem like a reality. All throughout school, her teachers have informed the class of mounting violence, melting icecaps, unstable governments. Casey raised her hand. "Okay, it's bad," she said. "I get that. But what are we doing to fix it?" Her teachers have no answer for her question. But as Casey tells her brother, she believes that one single act can change the future forever. Unfortunately, the 'one single act' she chose was to break into the NASA demolition sight her dad

Arts and Entertainment

Bonjour! And so I begin my second Arts and Entertainment post of the month. And mostly likely not the last! Here we go...     Okay, so the whole French greeting was a nod toward Nick Pitera's amazing rendition of "Belle" from Beauty and The Beast. He does all of the voices perfectly! Here's the link if you want to watch it--it's amazing and super funny. http://blogs.disney.com/oh-my-disney/2013/11/19/nick-pitera-is-awesome-once-again/  Watch out for a few more movie reviews! Up next on my movie-list is Tomorrowland and Lord of the Rings--Fellowship of the Ring. Oh yeah, whoa. Great movies up ahead. (So there's a dispute about Tomorrowland: so what? I'm not listening to negative comments until I watch it for myself.) It's going to be great. And I'm waited on bated breath for Pan. It looks amazing--and beautiful. Fun Facts you might not know about Pixar: 1. Animators are encouraged to decorate cubicles: the result is unbelievably awesome! 2

Write On

Hi, Page Turner again!    I love to write. One of the best parts of writing is looking at the blank screen and the idle keyboard and wondering what could be. So many possibilities! If you can think of it, it could happen. Anything can happen in a book, and you're there. Not only are you there, experiencing it all, but you're causing it to happen. It's like those rare dreams, where suddenly zap, you know that you're dreaming and you can control what happens. That's one reason I love to write. You can visit far-off places, like elven forest, crystal waterfalls, snowy mountains, hot deserts, spiraling galaxies. You can meet new people, like a hot-headed heroines, grouchy neighbors, daring adventurers, water nymphs, or a even emotions personified. It's filled with endless possibility! Whatever you dream up becomes a written reality! And the best part is,  you can use it to glorify God and teach others about Him. He deserves all our praise, and writing is one way to

Page Turner Daily News

Hi! Page Turner here. I know it's been a while since my last post, so here's an overview of what's happened since then! Art and Entertainment : Okay, so the new movie Pan came out. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks so good. Also, Pixar has announced the release dates for their new movies, including The Good Dinosaur, Zootopia,  Toy Story 4, and Incredibles 2. Sadly, Incredibles 2 doesn't come out until 2019! I guess I'll just have to watch the first one four thousand more times...! Also, I went to go see Tim Hawkins. If you don't know who he is, go find out. Really. He's a great--and the funniest--comedian I've ever seen. Also, he's a Christian and family-friendly. I saw him live and he was fantastic!!!! He hugged my mom as he came down the aisle playing his harmonica. It was amazing! Also, if you want a really good TV show, I could suggest a billion, from Christy, to Lab Rats, to Pride and Prejudice (the five hour version with Colin Firth

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, Mommy! Thank you for being such a wonderful mother!!!!!! You're the best mom in the world, and I'm so blessed to be your daughter.
