Disney World---From a Gal Who's Been There, Done That

Hi, Page Turner again! In case you haven't noticed, I love going to Disney World. Most people liked going to Disney World if they've been, but most people don't know the awesome, hidden wonders of the parks that take a bit of digging to find. Here's Page Turner's Guide to a Few Commonly Missed Attractions. Hope you have fun reading it!     Finding Nemo--the Musical: If you've ever seen the movie, are a fan of Broadway music, love beautiful costumes, or just want to get out of the heat, the Finding Nemo--the Musical attraction in Disney's Animal Kingdom is amazing. With a series of amazing Broadway-like songs, this play combines beautiful costumes and an amazing voice cast for an exciting, powerful play. It's totally worth seeing, and I even have the songs on my iPod! Mulch, Sweat, and Tears : This outdoor traveling band that plays in the Hollywood Studios can sing some cool beats. If you spot them (near the Star Wars attractions and the Muppets) m...

Arts and Entertainment

Hi, Page Turner here! It's the Page Turner Arts and Entertainment Post today. Yeah! Here goes.... Movies -- A lot of good movies are coming out this year, including Finding Dory and the Jungle Book. In case you haven't seen the previews, you should go do that now. I've got a few questions for the good folks who made Finding Dory. 1. Why does Hank the Octopus only have seven arms? 2. Why is Dory in a water sanitation center?! 3. Is it just me, or did the coral reef expand, like, a ton? Or did they move? 4. How long has it been since Finding Nemo? 5. Is Dory ever going to be able to regain her long term memory? Was she searching for her family when Marlin found her in the first movie, but he made her lose focus or forget? 6. Poor Marlin! First his son, now his friend.... There's my questions for that. I can't wait to see the new Jungle Book movie. From what I've seen from it's trailer, the animation is some of the best I've ever seen and the amazin...

Let Zem Eat Cake! Part 2

Hi, guys! I'm back again with a little bit more knowledge about Marie Antoinette's famous line where she declared, "Let them eat cake." Actually, some sources say that she never said this phrase, that it was a rumor first started about a Spanish princess a few years before, and rumored about Marie and a few other royals after.     The point is, the French Revolution was a messy time. The king and queen were selfish, the people were violent, and no one knew what to do. It wasn't called the Reign of Terror for nothing! Looking from the future, you might say, "Why didn't they just give food to the people? They were right there and they had so much!" The royals acted barbarically toward their people in letting them starve, and you might say they ignored them. We might never fight in a real war, not even in a small battle, but don't we fight fights? Nobody wakes up and assumes there will be no conflict. Unless you have, like, zero human contact, not ...

Let Zem Eat Cake! Part 1

Hi, Page Turner here! This post is about cake. No, this isn't a food review or something like that. I'm going to talk about the French Revolution.    Wait! I saw you scroll down! It'll be fine, I'll make it interesting. Because, as we all know, history often is.     So the French Revolution started in 1789. Unlike the idyllic picture of a small French town in Beauty and the Beast, or the exciting City of Lights, France wasn't exactly a cool place to be. You know how French food is famous? You could kind of say the same thing in 1789. People are starving and there's no food. Meanwhile, King Louis XVI is having the time of his life eating cake, playing tennis, wearing silk and lace...you get the gist. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette his wife are living in splendor, while the people are out of their minds with hunger. Also, all of the other guys, the royalty that own pretty much all of the land, are living like millionaires. The American Revolution just happened a...

Wasp Crackers

Hey, it's me and I've found out how to make pages. The one above, "Fun Trivia and Random Fact" is for fun facts and trivia, just because I like it and it's super fun to find. Thanks for reading! Page Turner, over and out.                                                                                            ---page turner P.S. People in Japan eat crackers made with wasps. Look it up.

24 Day Countdown (Until Valentine's Day!)

Hey, Page Turner here! Valentine's day is so soon! I don't know about you, but Valentine's Day is kind of a big deal on the pageturner411 blog. Flowers, roses, sappy phrases, and even sappier Hallmark movies! I mean, I've heard that Valentine's Day is a scam, created by the greeting card company in cahoots with the candy stores. I've also heard its about St. Valentine--I'm still a little fuzzy on the story. There's a ton of variations. Even with all of the uncertainties surrounding Valentine's Day, it's a great day to share God's love to others. Valentine's Day is ultimately about God. God is love, and He is the one who gave the greatest gift of love: His son who offers redemption and forgiveness. Love to each other is showing our friends Christ. And I think the sweetest part of marriage is when you can follow the Lord together. So find someone, tell them you love them, and eat lots, and lots of chocolate. Here's a couple lovely piec...

Biscuit Battle

Hi, everyone! Page Turner here. Okay I know it's been a while since my last Monthly Food Entry, so here it is for August. Bon appetite!               Imagine this: you're on the road, feeling lonely and so cold...not to mention hungry. You're stomach is rumbling and you need a little treat. If you're going to treat yourself you might as well do it right, so you decide for biscuits. But where? Bonjangles or Hardees? How do you know which one is better? Ah, dear reader, that is where I come in. Okay, so that's exactly what happened today and I have done scientific research, complete with pictures, to prove which is better. (In my personal, biased opinion...)                It started with Bojangles. We drove into the drive through and ordered two steak biscuits for 6.99. We were starving and once we bit into them, we were happy, but not satisfied. We at...

Facts! Facts! Facts!

Hey! Page Turner here! I've got a few really cool facts about two of my favorite subjects, writing (words) and movies. Here they are, from  National Geographic for Kids 5,000 Awesome Fact Book: 1. There is a word that rhymes with orange. It's sporange, an alternative form of the word sporangium, which is part of the fern. 2. In Wales, there a community named Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Not even kidding. 3. The Swedish equivalent of LOL is ASG, short for asgarv, or intense laughter. 4.The letter e is the most frequently used letter in the English alphabet 5. Angry and Hungry are the only two English words ending in "gry" 6. Every fourteen days, a language dies out 7.  A group of cats is called a clowder 8. The word quiz also means an odd person 9. The 267 page novel Gadsby has 50,00 words, and all them do not contain the letter e 10. Coulrophobia is the fear of clowns. 1. Americans eat popcorn in movie theaters... in Japan ba...

Thursday Tuna Day

Page Turner here. Tomorrow is Thursday Tuna Day! Okay, not for America, but for me. Why, you might wonder? Well, you see, I'm on this diet that allows you to have all the fats and proteins you want (i.e, meat, cheese, vegetables, fruits, eggs,) but no carbs. (i.e., bread, oatmeal, pasta, chocolate, toast, milk, pizza, muffins, sugar, happiness...) Combined with thirty minutes of exercise a day, it works. Anyway, I can have homemade egg, chicken, or tuna salad, but tuna has a ton of mercury in it, so I can only eat it once a week. (I could eat it more, but I'm not a big fan of food poisoning.) Anyway, sometimes I just have to imagine exactly what I'd eat if I went off. So here is the "Official Page Turner Food Blog of June." Here goes! Okay, so for breakfast I'd have those warm rolls with sausage links in them, and baked French toast. Yes, its baked. And yes its good. Okay, for lunch, I'd have a frozen pizza off the grill (the best) with chocolate milk...
