Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Hi, I'm Paige Turner, and I'm back for the Christmas season. I'm looking forward to writing more on my blog and also celebrating one of my favorite times of the year! Christmas can be an exciting, cozy, comforting time, but it can also be filled with stress, doubt, and sadness as we think of those we miss. Wherever you are this Christmas season, I pray that you'll find peace in our Savior--something that we all need to be reminded of, including me. :) Christmas can also be an exciting time, full of joy--even during stress and sadness, a deeper kind of joy--about Jesus, our Healer and King.I'm looking forward to celebrating love, family (while eating some delicious food), but most importantly, Jesus, Immanuel, which means, "God with us." Merry Christmas!

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Hi, Page Turner here! I'm back for--guess what!--another book review. That's right, folks. Book reviews are now officially part of the blog and will be labeled under movie reviews. What's this one on? Just one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. Okay, so when I said 'graphic novel' I guess I should be more specific. According to the dictionary a graphic novel is "a novel in a comic strip format." This book combines pages with words with pages covered in beautiful drawings that tell a story almost as clearly as the aforesaid written pages do. If you haven't guessed it all ready, this is the story of "The Invention of Hugo Cabret." If this doesn't sound like your kind of book, does mystery, danger, an orphan kid living in a clock tower, an old man with a secret, the history and magic of movies, or a secret hidden in a metal automaton strike your fancy? Here's my review!                   ...

The Great Gatsby Book Review

Hi, Page Turner here. Today is the third book in the 30 series on “15 Books Every Person Should Read.” Yesterday was about The Giver by Louis Lowry. Today I’m going to be writing about The Great Gatsby. A beloved, gritty classic about the 1920s, I read this book a few years ago and have been captured by its message ever since. I hope you enjoy today’s book review!                                         The Great Gatsby—a Book Review       The 1920s, dubbed the Roaring Twenties, has captured the imaginations of generations. Twinkling lights, flapper dresses, jazz, and Downton Abbey-esque dinner parties have all been general characterizations of this time period. Add in some speak-easy bars, some romance and mystery, and a trip to the cinema in the family automobile to complete the picture....

Who is the Best Avenger?

Hey, hey, hey! It's me again. Monday isn't the best of days, so I'd like to let off some steam by revisiting one of my favorite things to do: debate about movies. Oh, yeah. Today's topic? Who is the best Avenger? (Yeah, uh oh. This could conversation could get heated :) The following post is my personal opinion and I'd love to hear yours in the comments!        Okay, so we've got, what, like, 10 Avengers now? Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Spiderman, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch...I'm leaving out a few, but you get the gist. I'm going to just focus on the original: Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. Now, pretty much all of these guys are pretty cool. Natasha's like a secret agent/karate fighter, the Hulk can turn green and smash buildings, Iron Man's like a techno Superman, Thor can, well, control lightning, Hawkeye's Avenger's version of Katnis, and Captain America'...
