Rocks and Socks

Hi, it's me again! I realize I forgot to mention my beloved dog, Fox! Here's the scoop...
Our story began one fateful day, as we set out to our state's capital to get our new golden retriever puppy. On the way, list of names were made and debated until we decided upon just a few out of forty. When we arrived at the breeder, low and behold, there was a huge wire cage with four of the cutest golden retriever puppies. Three wore collars and were content with eating their dry dog kibble, but the collar-less fourth one (the most golden and cute of them all) saw us and went berserk. She jumped at her cage, her tail wagging and her ears back. The breeder let them out and the three ambled off, but the fourth one stayed with us, licking and jumping and wagging her tail. And so our journey began.....
The journey consisted of getting up every four hours at night for three months, to let her out to do her business. Fox was an energetic puppy, bounding to and fro, hither and yon. And very, very "mouthy" as our vet put it. "Yeah", we said, "Mouthy, bitey, chewy!" Fox was bright and chipper with every intention for mischief. What does hair, socks, rocks, ropes, wires, paper, magazines, cats, clips, pencils, and grass have in common.? It's apparently part of the Fox diet! One day, Fox got sick and we didn't know why. We drove her to the emergency vet place. We were all so scared and prayed for our little puppy, but it passed and she came back lively and chipper as ever....
Fox is still a puppy, but most of her destructive eating habits are over. Except for rocks and socks, of course...
Even though Fox bit us, ate up our magazines when we weren't looking, and tried to eat Kitty, we still love her and we've forgiven her. As Christians, God has already forgiven us. When we become a Christian, Jesus' blood pays for our past, present, and future sin. Not that we should go on biting and chewing up magazines, because we've said no to that and yes to God. But praise God, that He saved you, because no one can do it themselves!
Anyway, thanks for reading this! You'll probably be hearing about the escapades of Fox. Now if you'd excuse me, I should go see if Kitty's all right....

Books, Books, Books...

Hi, Page Turner here! Okay, so if the start of this high school year as been anything, it has  not  been boring due to lack of books to read. Here's a list of my favorite books, (in no particular order) that I've read since August!     1. "Bud, Not Buddy." This is book filled with humor and pathos and narrated by a ten-year old street-savvy kid in the Great Depression. After loosing his mom when he was six, he is moved to an orphanage. After a series of events, he finds himself alone on the road. But Bud has a secret--he thinks he knows who is father is, and he sets out to find him. This heart-warming story shows the heart of young boy, the mind of a hardened man, and the importance of family. 8/10! 2. "City of Ember Trilogy" Okay, so actually it's a quartet, but I've never liked the "Prophet of Yunwood" anyway. This series follows the events after a devastating world war that caused fire, starvation, and disease; a war that nearly wiped...

An Ode to My iPod: Part 2

iPod, you were in your plastic baggy I stared at you as I cleaned the kitchen How broken you were! The rice could not fix you, it seemed A friend suggested I get a new one Replace you, dear iPod? I had no other choice! You've been with me through a lot, dear iPod Through my first couple basketball games Through that terrible thunderstorm I listened to you during my sad times I played you when I was happy Your music reminded me of good memories Why, wonderful iPod, why did I let you get wet? It was such an innocent thunderstorm I held you as I listened to your song But was it for the last time? I listened to you as we drove long miles Your ability to store music astounds me So many memories are in those songs! My little iPod, you played as we grouted the porch You were beside me in the late nights when I couldn't sleep You lie on my pillow, supplying me with audio as I draw Dear little iPod, your music kept me running I guess I shall have to say good-bye,...

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Hi, Page Turner here! I'm back for--guess what!--another book review. That's right, folks. Book reviews are now officially part of the blog and will be labeled under movie reviews. What's this one on? Just one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. Okay, so when I said 'graphic novel' I guess I should be more specific. According to the dictionary a graphic novel is "a novel in a comic strip format." This book combines pages with words with pages covered in beautiful drawings that tell a story almost as clearly as the aforesaid written pages do. If you haven't guessed it all ready, this is the story of "The Invention of Hugo Cabret." If this doesn't sound like your kind of book, does mystery, danger, an orphan kid living in a clock tower, an old man with a secret, the history and magic of movies, or a secret hidden in a metal automaton strike your fancy? Here's my review!                   ...
