Day 17

Hey, Page Turner here! It is officially day  17 in my countdown to Valentine's Day, and the symptoms have begun to set in...What to get? What does that special someone in your life want for Valentine's Day? Well, being a Disney movie buff may finally pay off! (That and reading the blog at www.blogs.disney.com). Here's my own list of awesome Disney/Pixar presents that would be great for Valentine's Day:
Belle's Library--You've got to admit that having an entire library to yourself is pretty cool. Especially a four story library with millions of books, multiple staircases, and Baroque style furniture. But, if you can't afford that, give your sweetheart, friend, or family member a good book to read. If you don't know what to give someone, give them a nice copy of a classic book; it's a good idea for any occasion. And, as Cogsworth says, "If it's not Baroque, don't fix it."
The Magical Glowing Flower Or A Lantern--Okay, so who doesn't want to go inside a gondola-type boat with your true love and watch about a million lanterns float into the sky, while singing a classic love song? Everybody wants to. So this Valentine's Day, if you're sweetheart digs Tangled, give them a small paper lantern, with a card that says "My heart's on fire for you." The second present would be a magic glowing flower, but I hear they come in short supply. I really want 70 foot long magic hair, though!
The Grape Soda Pin--If you've ever seen Up, it's understandable why you're crying. Go get yourself a tissue. You back? Okay good. The Grape Soda Pin is from iconic moment when Carl and Ellie meet. Carl wears it throughout the movie, until he finally bestows 'the highest honor' to Russel. You can get a Grape Soda Pin at the Disney World Pin shop.
A Day--In Frozen Fever, Elsa gives Anna a day all to herself while singing a catchy song. Although the song' is optional, try treating your Valentine out for a day! Do everything they like--and little baby snowmen might even join the fun.
There's my list. Here's the Disney blog's actual list of ideas: http://blogs.disney.com/oh-my-disney/2016/01/28/valentines-day-gift-guide/. The Millennium Falcon necklace is my favorite! Anyway, if you're a Disney fan, here are a ton of ideas! I was thinking yesterday that the greatest gift we can give others is to point them to God. I think that God uses our prayers to Him about others to grow in our love for Him, and for the people we're praying for. So say a prayer, watch a Disney movie, and eat chocolate!

An Ode to My iPod: Part 2

iPod, you were in your plastic baggy I stared at you as I cleaned the kitchen How broken you were! The rice could not fix you, it seemed A friend suggested I get a new one Replace you, dear iPod? I had no other choice! You've been with me through a lot, dear iPod Through my first couple basketball games Through that terrible thunderstorm I listened to you during my sad times I played you when I was happy Your music reminded me of good memories Why, wonderful iPod, why did I let you get wet? It was such an innocent thunderstorm I held you as I listened to your song But was it for the last time? I listened to you as we drove long miles Your ability to store music astounds me So many memories are in those songs! My little iPod, you played as we grouted the porch You were beside me in the late nights when I couldn't sleep You lie on my pillow, supplying me with audio as I draw Dear little iPod, your music kept me running I guess I shall have to say good-bye,...

The Giver

Hi, Page Turner here again! I am here again to write about my next book on the 30 day journey of 15 Fiction Books Every Person Should Read (a book every two days). I think that books are a blessing God has given us to love Him more, be creative, and be inspired. I love reading, and hope you enjoy these books!       Yesterday's book was  The Boy in the Striped Pajamas . Today, I'll be writing about  The Giver.  I read this book in 9th grade and was completely immersed in Jonas' world. While I understood the deeper allegory behind this deeply-stirring book, it wasn't until this year that God fully connected the dots I had read in  The Giver.   This book has deeply affected my life-- I hope you enjoy this book review, and give  The Giver  a try sometime this summer!                                               ...

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Book 1

Hi, all! Page Turner here! I hope you are having a great summer! I like to read a lot, and one of my very favorite books is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. While a sad book, it is one of those works of literature that you feel has profoundly changed your life. I hope you enjoy this first review, and read The Boy in the Striped Pajamas  sometime this summer!                                              The Boy in the Striped Pajamas--A Review                 The horrible events of the past seem like horrors that will never be repeated in the present. After all, the world must have learned its lesson concerning different atrocities. People join in with author John Boyne as he writes,“Of course all this happened a long time ago and nothing like that could ever h...
