Girl Meets World Review

Hi, Page Turner here! I'm back after a mini vacation (aka, a busy weekend), and ready for more posts! Just a few nights ago, I finished the last episode of the first season of one of my favorite TV shows, Girl Meets World. If you've ever seen the 90's show, Boy Meets World, or you haven't seen either, have fun reading my post!
Boy Meets World followed the life of Cory Matthews as he grew up from a young middle-schooler, until he graduated from high school with his girlfriend Topanga and his best friend Shawn. Now he's married to his sweetheart Topanga and living in New York City with his five-year old son Auggie, and his thirteen-year old daughter Riley. Riley is a ray of innocent sunshine, ready to take on the world with her best friend (and the rebellious raincloud) Maya. Together, they brave the world and make new friends at school. Lucas is the handsome, chivalrous, and funny new student from Texas, and Farkle is the hilarious, outspoken, confident genius who, once you get to know him, as a very sweet heart. As Maya and Riley struggle with each new obstacle in life, Cory (her dad and history teacher), teaches her how to love her friends and family and live in the world. With quirky story lines, light-hearted episodes with heart, and the iconic window seat, Girl Meets World is a great show about growing up--from both the boy who's met the world, and his daughter who's still learning. Four and a half stars!
We're all still growing up, no matter what age you are, and you'll continue growing up until you die. It's a jungle out there, but I know that God's always with me. After all, He made the world. The more I seek Him, the more ready I'll be to shine His light to the world. Hope you have a good day! Page Turner, over and out.

Books, Books, Books...

Hi, Page Turner here! Okay, so if the start of this high school year as been anything, it has  not  been boring due to lack of books to read. Here's a list of my favorite books, (in no particular order) that I've read since August!     1. "Bud, Not Buddy." This is book filled with humor and pathos and narrated by a ten-year old street-savvy kid in the Great Depression. After loosing his mom when he was six, he is moved to an orphanage. After a series of events, he finds himself alone on the road. But Bud has a secret--he thinks he knows who is father is, and he sets out to find him. This heart-warming story shows the heart of young boy, the mind of a hardened man, and the importance of family. 8/10! 2. "City of Ember Trilogy" Okay, so actually it's a quartet, but I've never liked the "Prophet of Yunwood" anyway. This series follows the events after a devastating world war that caused fire, starvation, and disease; a war that nearly wiped...

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Hi, Page Turner here! I'm back for--guess what!--another book review. That's right, folks. Book reviews are now officially part of the blog and will be labeled under movie reviews. What's this one on? Just one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. Okay, so when I said 'graphic novel' I guess I should be more specific. According to the dictionary a graphic novel is "a novel in a comic strip format." This book combines pages with words with pages covered in beautiful drawings that tell a story almost as clearly as the aforesaid written pages do. If you haven't guessed it all ready, this is the story of "The Invention of Hugo Cabret." If this doesn't sound like your kind of book, does mystery, danger, an orphan kid living in a clock tower, an old man with a secret, the history and magic of movies, or a secret hidden in a metal automaton strike your fancy? Here's my review!                   ...

An Ode to My iPod: Part 2

iPod, you were in your plastic baggy I stared at you as I cleaned the kitchen How broken you were! The rice could not fix you, it seemed A friend suggested I get a new one Replace you, dear iPod? I had no other choice! You've been with me through a lot, dear iPod Through my first couple basketball games Through that terrible thunderstorm I listened to you during my sad times I played you when I was happy Your music reminded me of good memories Why, wonderful iPod, why did I let you get wet? It was such an innocent thunderstorm I held you as I listened to your song But was it for the last time? I listened to you as we drove long miles Your ability to store music astounds me So many memories are in those songs! My little iPod, you played as we grouted the porch You were beside me in the late nights when I couldn't sleep You lie on my pillow, supplying me with audio as I draw Dear little iPod, your music kept me running I guess I shall have to say good-bye,...
